Bathing Betty

Getting creative the other day in the sweltering heat that is the Chicagoland summer, we made do in the best way possible. We didn't have a cute round little baby pool for Ellie to splash around in, so we made do with a science bin from my classroom that I happened to still have in my trunk (I used it to transport my classroom plants back to my house for the summer, and I kept forgetting to bring it back to school).

Good thing we had it after all because it was the perfect size for Ellie. We played with toys and she splashed a little. I tried to encourage her to lay back and relax, but she didn't enjoy this quite as much as I thought she would.

It was quite the way to spend a lazy afternoon, and we had a reminder of this outside bathing-ish experience for days to follow in the way that the scent of grass clung to her hair just right. And, of course we got a few classically embarrassing pictures as well, but I wanted to be sensitive in case she looks back on this blog years from now mortified.
