Anywho, enough about the lake and nature. Here's a brief (well, an attempt at being brief) recap of our time up at the cabin.
Jed, Ellie and I got up to the cabin first to have a little bit of time by ourselves as a family. We decided to see what it was like to leave later than usual to the cabin, and we found ourselves arriving at the very ripe time of 12:45am. Yikes! We were pretty much zombies the next day, though Ellie and Oliver were happy and awake as ever. It was pretty cold weather at first, so this is early in the morning on the dock surveying the clear, tranquil water.
Then, the family arrived, and the excitement escalated. G & G Lindahl, my folks, AND John and Kari were all up north at the same time. Ellie loved her GG & GG, and it was fun to see her light up in smiles when she saw them. How special to get to share time with everyone like this. We had meals, dips in the lake, rousing games of Rook (Grandma knocked our socks off with some of her amazingly good hands of Rook cards - wow!)
Then, of course, we had our traditional 5-way birthday party, which my mother so wonderfully blogged about here. (Side note, she also has updated some other general cabin pictures here as well.)
And then, almost as soon as the festivities began, our time had come to a close. On our last night, our family went out on a rainy evening for pizza to celebrate my great-uncle's one year anniversary in living independently in his apartment. Another lovely party and time of fellowship. Unsure of how long we were going to stay up at the cabin, the downpours and the forecast of a week full of continuing on and off downpours brought us back home on the earlier end of our planned departure times.
But, we are still thinking fondly of our trip and our time up north, eagerly anticipating when we will get to come back again soon.
