Jed was a good sport, though, and the kids thoroughly enjoyed themselves as they listened to music and danced their way through the hour-long concert. Ellie loved the dancing (and watching other kids dance/prance around). Maja observed for a while, but as it was close to her bedtime, her ending highlight was gumming MeMo's name tag with fervor.
After the concert (and before Jed and I went out for dinner to celebrate his birthday), we went over to my parents house to have a little birthday "party" which consisted of opening a few presents, singing, and eating cake with ice cream, raspberries, and blueberries.
Jed's big present from us was some Birkenstock sandals. Because they didn't arrive quite yet (and Jed knew they were going to be his gift), he was given a temporary "fake out" present to unwrap that was a box of my shoes with a card on the top that had a picture of his shoes to come. Silly, but good for a little chuckle.

Happy Birthday to you, Jed - glad we could celebrate together!
