Babies

People have been asking me how Ellie has been dealing with my pregnancy and having a new baby sister coming in just a few months.  So far, she is taking it like a champ.  I think that she has a good idea of what is to come in her own mind, but who knows what this will look like once the arrival of baby in the fall actually happens.

What does she know/understand?  Here are her truths of the matter:

1.  Right now, according to her, I am having a baby girl, but she [Ellie] will be having a baby boy.

2.  She talks about the baby in her belly "standing" or "sitting" depending on how full she is.
     Apparently, if she has had a lot of dinner, the baby stands.

3.  Sometimes, her back hurts and she needs to sit against a wall to make herself feel better.

4.  Fruit Leather is a food that she eats to make herself "not feel sick anymore."

5.  She is obsessed with naming my baby "Lilia" because "then there will be TWO Lilias!"
     (my friend just had a baby named Lilia at the beginning of the summer).

6.  When I take her to the bathroom, she says that she will go pee-pee first, then the baby will go pee-
     pee in mommy's belly, and then it's your turn mommy.

7.  She knows she will share a room with the baby, the baby will sleep in her old crib.

8.  Ellie wants to read stories to her baby sister and push her on the swing.

9.  She thinks that one small "outie" part of my belly button is the baby's eye looking at her.

** UPDATE: Now, she thinks that she is carrying at leave FIVE babies.  Some of her babies can be found at any given time on her back, shoulders, belly, and legs.  She cannot believe that mommy only has ONE baby and it never moves away from her belly.**

We'll see how these things change once it gets closer to "go time." Oh, to be two, and have to process something like this.
