Bye-Bye

This year, with Jed in his new job, he has had to consistently leave the house at the ripe hour of 6:30am.  For the most part, this situation works out to be just fine, as he is able to be back home around 4:30, and can have ample time with his ladies upon his return.

As Ellie is a daddy's girl to the core, this fall, she started waking up as soon as she would hear the shower running just to be able to "watch daddy go 'bye-bye.'"  If she didn't get to see him, she would awake with many tears of devastation about missing her daddy.  So, up she was with a start to follow him around the house in his journey to get out the door.  Although this is very sweet, it also made it difficult to be able to get out the door on time with her unending life inquisitions throughout every step of the way.

At this point, we have figured out a way to make this work, and still ends with her being able to watch Jed leave.  Here she was at the door the other day, playing with the condensation on the window watching him turn the car around to drive by and wave.  It was such a sweet, little moment that I had to capture.

I am sure that someday she will no longer want to watch vigilantly as her daddy leaves for the day.  One thing I am learning is that life is ever-changing and before you know it, it no longer resembles the "same old, same old" that it once encompassed.  I am working to embrace the moments in the now for what they are, not dwelling in the past, or rushing too far ahead in the future.  They are what they are, and there are some tender times that exist in the present.
