Last weekend was Labor Day weekend, which in this ushering of fall, found us doing the very fun fall-ish activity of apple picking.
As we did a few years ago, we headed out to Heinz Orchard where "it's just about the apples" and not about the whole fuss of hayrides, long lines, apple cider, and other gimmicky things. (Don't get me wrong; someday I am sure that we will love to take part in these fun things, but right now it would probably put a large dent in our wallet and lead to a great amount of chaos and over-stimulation for our already curious and explorative little lady.
Of course, being the nature treasure collector that she is, she couldn't wait to get to hold the bag o' apples. It got heavy after a little bit and ended up situating itself instead in our stroller.
She picked high and low, and was warned not to mess with apples that have already found themselves permanent homes on the ground underneath the trees.
Our "blossoming" family.
MeMo and Papa treat apple picking with fun and fervor. Many delicious apples of different kinds were picked and Ellie was enthralled by it all. Later, Ellie got to make homemade applesauce with MeMo which we all devoured after a much enjoyed pizza lunch back at home. Yum!
And, there was much tasting and sharing of apples throughout the day as well. Ellie was into the "take one bite and pass it on" practice that we all were privy to being a part of at one point or another.
In other news that weekend...
I was a closet organizing fiend. In order to deal with adding more space for the impending babe to come, we finally cleared out our stuff from Ellie's closet. These items needed a home, which caused a domino effect of clearing out our bedroom closet and our hallway closet. Many bags have been set aside for donation and other homes for unwanted items. I'll have to add pictures of these closets later.
