Jed has told me that when he was a little kid, he didn't suck on his thumb, but on his fingers instead. He can't remember what finger combination suited his fancy, but he knows he was hooked.
Our lady is a finger-sucker too. She would almost, yes, most definitely prefer to nibble on her fingers at this point more than her pacifier (her pacifier will suffice, however, in situations where said fingers are unavailable (carseat).).
We caught her deep in sleep and finger-gnoshing action the other night as lay sleeping in her swing. Poor girl has had a pretty nasty cough lately, that has left her needing to sleep more upright than usual.
