Adventures in San Antonio - Part One

Our first destination was to the San Antonio Zoo. Fun zoo, tons o' rain. We ended up buying some way cool zoo ponchos that saved us from being completely drenched by the consistent waves of storms. Ellie actually loved her poncho and wanted to wear it for the rest of the day even when it wasn't raining!
Great photo op. by the lion statues at the front of the zoo.  I am starting to think that this is a rather typical thing for zoos to have?  There is something regal and "zoo-ish" about a pack of lions.
Then, post naptime, it was off for a boat tour along the Riverwalk (we got the tickets for FREE thanks to our wonderful hotel).  We loved the tour.  It was great to hear a little bit of history about San Antonio and the buildings that line the river here.

We even found out that the river is drained once a year and trucks drive through to help deep clean it.  Who knew?

Lastly, we popped by the Alamo.  Ellie was convinced that she was going to see "Elmo" and was disappointed not to have seen him in these historically old buildings and courtyards.  We had about 15 minutes to walk around before it closed for the day, and it brought back memories from my middle school days traveling here for spring break with the Rholls.
